(London, January 23, 2025)–The Executive Director of the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) of Liberia, Dr. Emmanuel Urey Yarkpawolo is currently in London attending the Forest Governance, Markets, and Climate (FGMC) Stakeholder Forum 2025. The event, held at Goodenough College in Bloomsbury, runs from January 23 to January 24, 2025.
The FGMC program, led by the UK’s Foreign, Commonwealth, and Development Office (FCDO), focuses on improving forest governance and reducing illegal forest resource use. It also aims to enhance the livelihoods of forest-dependent communities and address global climate challenges. Liberia, as a beneficiary of the program, is a key participant in these discussions.
Others attending from Liberia include Mr. Phillip Packer, Board Chair of the Forestry Development Authority (FDA); Harrison Kanweah, representing the private sector; and Silas Siakor from IDH, among others.
The forum brings together global stakeholders to share insights, strengthen partnerships, and strategize on sustainable forestry practices. As the program enters its second phase, discussions are centered on past achievements, future challenges, and refining interventions in priority regions.
Dr. Yarkpawolo’s participation underscores Liberia’s commitment to addressing environmental issues and promoting sustainable forest management. The outcomes of this forum are expected to support Liberia’s environmental efforts and contribute to the global fight against climate change.
