The Environment Protection Agency – EPA with technical and funding support from the National Adaptation Plan Global Network has concluded a three(3) day dialogue for Civil Society Organizations (CSOs), Youth, Women and Private sector for the implementation of Liberia’s National Adaptation Plans(NAP) in Kakata City, Margibi County.
The dialogue which was held from July 17-19, 2024 at Survivors Aid International Liberia (SAIL) Conference Hall brought together a total of 40 participants. The dialogue was held on the theme: ” Strengthening meaningful CSOs, Youth and Private sector engagement for scaling up NAP Implementation in Liberia “.
The dialogue ended with the setting up of a technical working group for CSOs, Youth, Women and Private sector to support the implementation of Liberia’s NAP.
A declaration named and styled: ” Kakata Declaration ” of commitment by CSOs, Youth, Women and Private sector to support the full implementation of Liberia’s National Adaptation Plans was also adopted and signed by all CSOs, Youth, Women and Private sector representatives.
The Environmental Protection Agency of Liberia Manager ai for the Department of Multilateral Environmental Agreements (MEAs) and Technical Lead for NAP in Liberia, Arthur R.M. Becker at the close of the dialogue mentioned that it his hope that the 3-day deliberations will help foster multi stakeholder approach towards successful and effective NAP implementation in Liberia.
On August 9, 2024 the Environmental Protection Agency of Liberia is expected to host a high-level dialogue on NAP Implementation at Farmington Hotel in Margibi County bringing together heads of Government Ministries, Agencies and Commissions including, Ambassadors of diplomatic missions accredited near Monrovia, representatives of various United Nations agencies, Multilateral development partners, international organizations, etc.
